Thank you Southeast Toyota for sponsoring this trip and blog post! As always, all thoughts, opinions, and photos are my own. And thank you readers for supporting the brands that support Lines Across.
I’ve always loved travelling and exploring new places. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I’ve moved around a lot and lived in 7 different states in my life. During college, my dad and I took a road trip from Orlando Florida to San Francisco California and it really was amazing getting to drive across the whole country. However since I’ve had kids, travelling has become so much more complicated (and tiring). So even though we haven’t always been able to take big huge trips like we used to, our family tries to take little trips and have little adventures much closer to home.
My daughter Lyla is such a creative little 6 year old and she absolutely loves helping me with my photos, crafts, Instagram, etc. Whenever she sees a colorful wall or house she shouts out at me to pull over so we can take a picture. And as a mother to three kids (3, 6, and 7) things are usually pretty hectic and I try to spend some quality one on one time with each kid individually. So when I got the opportunity to have a weekend adventure in a brand new Toyota Corolla, I knew I wanted to make it a girls’ trip and bring Lyla along.
So originally we had planned to drive down to Atlanta (about 2 hours away) to explore the city and search for colorful walls. However I ended out breaking my ankle and having to have surgery and I decided that since I was still in a cast, it would be better to stay closer to home. And what an unexpected delight it turned out to be.
Honestly we would have been happy driving in loops around the driveway! The Toyota Corolla was amazing! We’ve always been huge fans of Toyota, but Lyla and I really fell in love with the Corolla and all of its fancy features. I especially loved the safety features (like alerts to help you stay in your lane) and the way the car drove. Lyla especially loved the beautiful black interior (black is her favorite color right now) and the bluetooth technology and display. She loved helping me choose which songs to play and asking the car to call her dad.
Funny side story: I drove down to North Georgia Toyota in Dalton Georgia to pick up the car and to get a tour of all of the features. They showed me how to connect my phone to the car with bluetooth, and then went in to show me how to play music. But the only songs I’ve actually downloaded to my phone are from the Moana Sountrack and a few other Disney songs haha.
So Lyla and I ended out driving through the mountains of North Georgia and exploring a whole little area that we normally wouldn’t have thought to visit. The views were incredible!
We also drove around some small town neighborhoods looking for colorful houses. We were both wearing pink and even had somewhat matching tulle skirts. (Mine was long enough to cover up my cast!)
And I couldn’t resist playing around with Photoshop a little bit 🙂
I was worried that our closer to home trip wouldn’t be as much fun, but Lyla and I had a blast together. Of course the gorgeous new car helped 🙂 But it was also such a great opportunity to explore the mountains nearby us and to appreciate the beauty so close to where we live. Thanks Corolla for making the trip possible!
