I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about an aisle at Michael’s (other than the painting aisles that will forever be my favorite) as when I walked down the aisle of Alphabet Soup by Make Market products. There are so many different fun and unique styles of letters, each one better than the one before. Some of my favorites are the letter shaped jewelry trays, letter shaped books, and letter shaped peg boards. My indecisiveness made it very difficult to choose just one project for the February Michael’s Makers personalization challenge, but I’ve been wanting to add some MAKE letters to my craft room area for a while now and I knew these colorful little letters would be quick and perfect.
These little letters come in a variety of colors, and I think they are also a chalkboard surface. What’s great is that you can pick out fun colors and hang them on the wall as is, or personalize them a little more. I’ve also been wanting to add more black and white patterns to my house/projects, so I decided to paint black stripes on the white letter K. It was really easy – I just taped off stripes with washi tape, and painted a few layers of black acrylic paint.
And after I hung up the letters in my craft room area, I realized that I really didn’t love the color combination as much as I thought and missed yellow. So I quickly painted the lime green E yellow.
And I’m sure I’ll be back to get some more letters. If you’re looking for inspiration, check out some fun projects at Michaels.com or see the other Michael’s Makers’ projects at The Glue String.
