Have you ever snacked so much before dinner that when it comes time to eat you’re not hungry anymore? Hopefully you were eating something healthy like berries or nuts or apples and peanut butter rather than cookies or chocolate or… sand. SAND?
Lyla: “No thank you, I’m full”
(Zoom in to see just how much sand)
Me: “BENJAMIN! How did your sister get covered in sand?”
B: “What? I have no clue what you’re talking about”
Me: BENJAMIN DEAN?
B: “Stop asking me Mommy. I told you I had nothing to do with that!”
Me: “Benjamin, I know what you did. I have proof… irrefutable photographic evidence.”
B: “Uh oh”
B: “Wasn’t me”
Me: “There’s more…”
Motherhood lessons learned: Don’t leave your husband alone outside with his book, your toddler, your baby, and the sandbox unless you think sand is a healthy baby snack and a natural exfoliant for her delicate baby skin.
Benjamin likes to bury his hands and feet in the sand and say “Hand, hand, where’d it go, where’d it go, hand” I guess he saw Lyla there with him for the first time and decided to play that game with her.
(I love this crab sandbox – Step2 Crabbie Sandbox – I think it is on sale right now for about $40 at BabiesRUs. It is bigger than the classic turtle sandbox so it fits both babies. Also the lid works very well to keep out the bugs and rain. We live in Florida and have never had a problem with it)

Haha, cute. I have a love/hate relationship with our sandbox. lol My girls love playing in it but I hate cleaning the sand out of their hair and everywhere else afterward. :p Stopping by from Surfin' Saturdays… I'm your newest follower. 🙂

Oh my, you would hate to see what my hubby did to J then! 🙂 I came out one day to find him buried up to his underarms, face full of sand (and everything else). But the two of them were just giggling so hard…it really was quite wonderful.
J is quite (very) mischievous too and I think I may be having more than one of these conversations with him about his baby sister real soon 🙂

Hi, I found you through the Surfin’ Saturdays Blog Hop and am your newest follower. I love this post, it brings back memories of days gone by…..now my youngest is 8, so have a whole new set of worries. For instance right now she's grounded for riding her bike to the park, because Daddy said she could ride….still working with Daddy that you need to nail down the specifics (who, what, where, when) otherwise they do their own interpretation.
If you get a chance I’d love to have you “hop over” and check out my “Cupboard”…..hope to see you soon!

I found your blog through We Teach. My kids are older now. (10, 7, and 7)
I remember the sandbox days. They loved it. I was thrilled when they out grew it. Two of my kids loved eating sand. I couldn't stop them. Every diaper change after being around sand required a bath. Baby wipes were not made for sand. I hope your daughter's sand eating was a one time thing. I tried to stop my kids from eating it, but they were sneaky and determined.
I do like the sand box you have (with lid). Try telling your daughter if she eats the sand, she's eating bugs. It worked for me.
Enjoy the summer!
