Lately I have gotten so exhausted with multi-tasking. I am always doing sooo many things at once and there are always even more things that I should probably be doing too. I desperately want a few days of just tasking, no multi about it. Naps and free time and recreation all sound way too good to be true, so I’ll just wish for some simple tasking, one thing at a time.
Mothers should have extra arms. Seriously. Evolution should have taken care of this by now.
“Octomom – 8 arms and 2 babies not the other way around” |
I miss eating, like actually sitting down in a chair and eating with both of my hands. A few days ago we went to the mall for lunch and I had to balance Lyla in my lap with my left hand, helping feed Benjamin with my right hand (he mostly feeds himself now but still needs a little help) and trying to eat with my right. I could seriously use another arm… or two. If this wasn’t bad enough, I also had to deal with the fact that little Lyla has become the squirmiest little baby in the world. She twists and reaches and pulls and grabs at any sort of food or plate that gets near her. So I had to push my food as far away from us as possible. I wish I had a picture of how ridiculous I looked, but that would have required even more hands and I’m already in the negatives here. Also, people were staring. Maybe they were thinking “wow she’s a good mother balancing all of that at once.” More likely they were thinking “what kind of a nutcase has kids so close together… and what kind of a nutcase takes them both to the mall at the same time?”
Out to lunch with my mother and grandmother (aka Grangie and Gigi) |
I miss washing my hands like a regular person. Instead I usually end out washing them one at a time while holding Lyla.
I miss carrying just one baby. For whatever reason I have a very clingy toddler. I think it’s partially his age and partially his way of dealing with having a little sister around these days. So when I’m carrying Lyla around the house, Benjamin desperately wants me to carry him as well. It’s easy to say no when he yells at me, but lately he has started saying “please up mommy” and I just don’t have it in me to say no. The real challenge here is in bending down to pick Benjamin up while still holding Lyla. My arms must be getting strong these days. Maybe the clingy problem comes from the fact that I’m willing to carry 18 pounds and 30 pounds around the house with me… just maybe.
Babies… they make you gain weight, then they help you loose it.

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yes, I only have two arms and it is so frustrating sometimes, I have another little one on the way in December and I'm sure to be doing the same thing with a clingy toddler and baby. Silly evolution!! 🙂
