Lately, Benjamin has been showing a new jealous side… of Lyla. Now don’t get me wrong, he loves her more than anything. He loves to give her her paci, bring her diapers, hold her hand, tickle her feet, give her kisses, etc etc etc… However he knows that he has to fight a little harder for things he wants now. He is also learning a lot about sharing and there is nothing sweeter than when he gives her something that is important to him. Now that Lyla is sitting up on her own and grabbing for absolutely everything, they are able to sit together and play with the same toys.
The one thing that Benjamin has had the most trouble sharing is his mama. Let’s face it, Benjamin is a momma’s boy (he’s not even 2 yet so it’s still cool). He knows he has to fight very hard for my attention when Lyla is awake.
We all crawled into Jam Jam’s crib |
So tonight I set the Bumbo on the floor, put Lyla in it and sat on the floor in front of her with a bib, spoon, and jar of carrots. Benjamin sees this, runs over to me and sits right in my lap, points to the jar and says “Jar, mmmmm”. So they shared the jar, taking turns one bite at a time.
Lately Benjamin has started talking at a new level. I love his little words. Here are a few things he said today:
One of Lyla’s pacifiers had fallen on the floor earlier. He brought it to me and said, “Paci dirty”
Lyla is so grabby right now and she has a special talent of finding and pulling my hair, even when it’s pulled back. Benjamin came over to me and said “Lyla hurt hair mama”
When there was some flames on television he came and said “fire, hot”
He loves to count things, “One button, TWO buttons…” He also loves colors and knows most of them. If it is a blended color or a shade he doesn’t really know he calls it “purple”.
