Lately Benjamin has been really into learning the alphabet, counting, shapes and colors. Of course he has favorites… his favorite shape is a heart (but he also loves footballs, stars, and ovals). He knows about half of the alphabet, can count to ten sometimes (but often skips or repeats numbers), knows the basic colors (although sometimes he starts calling every color purple), and knows a lot of shapes too. He also really loves animals and I am often shocked to hear him say the name of an animal I didn’t know he knew.
We usually talk about letters, shapes, and colors with his books or sidewalk chalk or crayons, but I felt like he was ready for a few very basic construction paper crafts.
I love this video. At one point in the middle when he wanted something I had in my hands he signed PLEASE (rubbing his chest in a circle) and MORE (putting his fingertips together). I love how he calls me Daddy at the end of the video, haha.
I cut up a few different shapes from different colored sheets of construction paper and drew a few letters on some of them. I didn’t spend much time on this…
We made a construction paper lady-bug for Lyla’s room…
I cut out and drew lines on some orange paper and glued it into the fish bowl. Of course Benjamin handed me a crayon and said “Heart please”. We call the fish Dorothy (since Benjamin LOVES Elmo’s world) and hung it up in his room. Now we will say “night-night Dorothy” before bed.
I can’t wait til Benjamin is old enough to do more crafts with me!

Ok, how fun and creative are you?! That's awesome. I love that he signed to you too – we've started using some signs and I'm pretty sure Thad signs milk, but who knows?
I'm following from WW blog hop, I'd love it if you'd stop by and follow back!

That's awesome. I love trying out crafts with my toddler (18 months) and also can't wait til he's older and we can do more. It's so limited right now.
