Our wedding feels like a lifetime ago. In reality, we have not yet celebrated our 3rd anniversary. Really the past 3 years of my life have been such a whirlwind. Grant proposed in December 2007 when we were both seniors in college out in California. We then decided to move to Orlando after graduation and have our wedding there. I was not the type of girl who grew up dreaming
Mothers should have extra arms. Seriously. Evolution should have taken care of this by now.
Lately I have gotten so exhausted with multi-tasking. I am always doing sooo many things at once and there are always even more things that I should probably be doing too. I desperately want a few days of just tasking, no multi about it. Naps and free time and recreation all sound way too good to be true, so I’ll just wish for some simple tasking, one thing at a
Laughter is Contagious
Have you ever noticed that the more a little kid likes something the more quickly laughter can turn to tears? For example we play this game with Benjamin where you hold onto his hands and progress from tiptoe to walk to run to fly down the hallway. 10 times out of 10 he cracks up where he can barely breathe. 10 times out of 10 this game ends in tears.
Crayon Flash Cards
Since Benjamin is really starting to learn his colors and numbers right now, I wanted to make him some flash cards that he could play with. So I got the idea to make 1-10 multicolored crayon flash cards. Here is what I used: Construction Paper Sharpie Scanner/Copier Scissors Tape Glue Crayons Cardboard Empty tissue box First I sketched out a crayon on a piece of white paper, then I traced
My little athlete
Shirts vs. Skins “Beat that Dwight Howard!” I think Benjamin has created a new sport… Footsketball. He loves his basketball goal and he loves any football so of course he should put them together.
No Thank You, I’m full
Have you ever snacked so much before dinner that when it comes time to eat you’re not hungry anymore? Hopefully you were eating something healthy like berries or nuts or apples and peanut butter rather than cookies or chocolate or… sand. SAND? Lyla: “No thank you, I’m full” (Zoom in to see just how much sand) Me: “BENJAMIN! How did your sister get covered in sand?” B: “What? I have
Colors Shapes and Numbers (Yes football is a shape)
Lately Benjamin has been really into learning the alphabet, counting, shapes and colors. Of course he has favorites… his favorite shape is a heart (but he also loves footballs, stars, and ovals). He knows about half of the alphabet, can count to ten sometimes (but often skips or repeats numbers), knows the basic colors (although sometimes he starts calling every color purple), and knows a lot of shapes too. He
Busy Gears – Learning Toy
Most mornings Benjamin wakes up saying one thing: GEARS. These gears are just about his favorite thing on earth (other than Oo-Oo the Monkey and his family of course). He loves his gear toy. It really is a great toy. There is a large central gear with a motor that spins around and plays music when you press the button. Then the other colorful gears that are connected spin too.
Baby name photograph art
Baby Name Photographs – Wall Hangings This is a simple craft idea that I came up with while playing with Play-doh with Benjamin. I made the letters for the title of my blog out of different colors of play-doh and then decided to spell out Benjamin and Lyla. What I used: Imaginarium Wooden Xylophone or… Schylling Xylophone – Wooden or any colorful toy or background White Play-doh Canon Rebel EOS I
Lyla’s first haircut and Jam’s new toy
I didn’t think that I would ever want to cut Lyla’s hair, but I realized that it needed a little trim. I planned on trimming the back, cutting bangs, and cutting back some of the dark frizzy ends. Before After Before After It was very difficult to cut Lyla’s hair. She kept wanting to grab at the scissors. I really miss her old hair but I think that the new
