Ladybug Crafts – Around the Web Mama May I Blog makes the most fantastic learning toys, activities, and crafts. I really LOVE this ladybug counting mat that she made (and sells on Etsy). I saw this unique ladybug project at Parents.com. Basically, you dip black and red yarn in a mixture of glue and water. You then wrap the yarn around 2 balloons, allow it to dry, then pop and remove
Lyla’s Sidewalk Chalk Photoshoot
I love these pictures (I first saw on Pinterest) of babies where you use chalk to write out their names or ages.
From Birth to Two Years (month by month photo journey)
Dear Benjamin, Last week you turned 2. You are pretty much the best thing to ever happen to me. I miss baby Benjamin but I LOVE watching you grow up more than anything in the world. Even though some day I will desperately miss 2 year old Benjamin, I can’t wait to be there with you as you continue to grow up. Love, Mama Happy Birthday Jam Jam! I love
Chameleon Pipe Cleaner Animals – “A Color of His Own” Activity
We love the book “A Color of His Own” by Leo Lionni. It is a cute story about a little Chameleon who is sad that since he changes colors according to his surroundings he does not have a color of his own. So he decides to sit on a green leaf forever so that he will always be green. But of course the leaf changes color and so does he.
Felt Flowers (hair clips and pins)
This week I got a little crazy with making felt flowers. I tried a few different tutorials I found online and made some flower hair clips for Lyla, and a few to pin on her clothes or to decorate her room. I didn’t have any pink felt or cute buttons or beads when I was making these, so I definitely want to go back and make some more pink ones
Happy 2nd Birthday Benjamin!
Today was Benjamin’s 2nd Birthday. I have never been all that into birthdays, and yet I still teared up a little bit this morning when we went into his room to sing Happy Birthday when he first woke up. In honor of little Benjamin’s birthday, this week I will be posting his birth story as well as month by month pictures of his first 2 years of life. Jam wearing
Felt Owl Nursery Wall Hanging
Since I LOVE owls, I wanted to make an owl wall hanging to put in Lyla’s nursery. I decided to use felt. First I sketched out a picture of generally what I wanted the owl to look like. Then cut I it out, traced it onto a piece of felt (purple) and cut it out. Then I cut out pieces for the belly, beak, feet, feathers, and eyes. I considered
Link up your crafts! (and blog redesign)
I just started my first crafty link party. Please stop by and link up up to 3 projects, crafts, recipes, activities, or anything DIY. The Cure for the Common Monday In the meantime I have been working on redesigning my blog a little bit. Bear with me as I make these changes. I would also love feedback. Later I will share about the different things I am doing with some
Resemblance – Who do they look like?
I love looking at pictures of families and trying to see the resemblances. I especially love doing this with my own kids. When the doctor handed Lyla to me for the first time, the first thing I said was, “Oh my goodness she looks just like me.” I don’t know why this surprised me… probably because Benjamin didn’t look a thing like me when he was born. Lyla and me
Beatles Quotes – Free Printables – How to download free fonts
I love playing around with fonts and colors and I especially love cute quotes and graphics. I made a couple printables from Beatles’ songs (All you need is love, and Blackbird). I still have a LOT to learn but I could definitely do this all day. This week I started a crafty link party called “The Cure for the Common Monday” and I would love it for everyone to stop
