Handmade Ornament #11
Hey, friends! I’m Candace and I blog over at Vintage News Junkie. I love burlap, glitter, and old rusty buckets. Mason jars, burlap, and reclaimed wood. I love roadside furniture, burlap, and ironstone. Old wagon wheels and being here at Lines Across today! Did I mention I love burlap??
My Christmas decor this year is chock full of burlap! So when Rachel asked me to share a handmade ornament, it was a no brainer! I had already shared my Burlap Flower Christmas Ornament over on my blog, so my arm was twisted to create another burlap Christmas ornament! Oh don’t worry, it didn’t hurt!
I started with a styrofoam ring that I picked up at the dollar store! I wrapped it in strips of burlap to cover the green and to give me something to glue my burlap loops onto! Hot glue just doesn’t like styrofoam… don’t ask me why? I think there’s some bad blood from years ago!
Once my wreath was covered, it was time to make some loops! I used the same method that I used to make my DIY Burlap Christmas Tree. Start by cutting your burlap into strips, mine were about 4 inches wide.
Then cut those strips into rectangles. Make them the length that you need to wrap around your styrofoam ring. Fold your rectangle in half and cut little slits, like so…
Then, when you wrap the piece of burlap around your ring, it will open up the slits to create loops!
Keep layering the loops one on top of another all the way around your wreath!
It sounds a lot harder than it actually is!! If you still want some guidance… here’s the video tutorial from my Burlap Christmas Tree.
Now, you got it!!! And here’s how she turned out… perched on our ‘Dreamy’ Christmas Tree!!
The best part of this little wreath ornament… you can totally use it YEAR-ROUND!! You better believe my mini wreath ornament will never see the inside of a red or green storage tub! That little baby will be propped on the mantel, hung on a shelf, perhaps cuddled up with me for a nap! Ha ha… kidding on the nap bit!
If you are itching for more Christmas burlap crafts… done!

Oooooh yeeeeeah… it’s made from a mason jar lid!!
Thank you for having me, Rachel!! It’s been a blast!! Oh, and I am smitten over that Braided Wreath Ornament you made!! I’ve gotta get my hands on some polymer clay!!
Until next time friends…
