Welcome Trish and Bonnie! I LOVE all kinds of photograph ornaments, and these are darling.
Hi Lines Across readers! We are Trish and Bonnie and we blog over at Uncommon Designs. We are so excited that sweet Rachel asked us to be a part of her handmade ornament series. Today we are going to show you how to create these simple, little…
Holly Wreath Personalized Ornaments
These little ornaments are super easy, and I love that I was able to capture both of my children doing something they each love and preserve it for memories!
Let’s get started….
Supplies Needed for Holly Wreath Personalized Ornaments
Jute Twine
Paper Mache Ornament Discs
Mod Podge
Linen Colored Acrylic Craft Paint
Holly Wreath Sticker {these are from Hobby Lobby}
Printed Photo of Choice
Felt
Pinking Shears
Hot Glue Gun and gluesticks
Step 1…
Remove the hangers from the paper mache discs and paint them with 2 coats of acrylic craft paint. I chose this simple linen color to match my neutral decor, but you could use whatever color you would like.
Step 2…
Next you will cut out your photo in a circle. I used the center of my sticker as the pattern to know how large to cut the circles. Adhere the photos to the painted disc with Mod Podge. I had paper Mod Podge on hand, so that is what I used. Applying photos can be tricky because they can easily smear if not printed off with a laserjet printer. I only put Mod Podge on the backs of my photos due to printing on cardstock at home. Mod Podge Rocks has LOTS of great tips on using Mod Podge with photos. Go check out Amy’s site {Mod Podge Rocks} for her helpful tips and tricks!
Step 3…
Cut a circle out of the felt with pinking shears, making sure it is a little larger in diameter than the paper mache disc. Tie a loop out of the twine and insert it back into the top of the paper mache disc. I made the hole a little larger and used a pointed screwdriver to “push” the twine hanger into the hole. I then added a little bit of glue from my glue gun to secure it.
Step 4…
Finally, place the holly wreath sticker on top of the photo. Attach the felt to the back of the paper mache disc with a little glue from the glue gun.
I love how these Holly Wreath Personalized Ornaments turned out. My kids love them too, mostly because they are not “living” in the computer! 🙂 Photos are just a great way to capture memories for a lifetime!

Those are really great way to personalize decorative ornaments…and not just for Christmas, such ornaments could be used throughout the year to adorn the mantel piece…
